Church Overview

The hidden gem of the Old Town. Dating from 1884-1904, Hay & Henderson. War memorial chapel and Calvary stair by H O Tarbolton, 1926. Entrances in Carrubber’s Close and Jeffrey Street give little clue to the splendour within. This historic episcopal church with Jacobite past has magnificent and complete original furnishings. ‘Still’, a massive oil painting made of 4 panels, showing tumbling folds of white cloth, by Alison Watt, 2004, is displayed in the memorial chapel. A living church with daily worship and a prayerful atmosphere.
