Church Overview

The is fine Classical church, designed by architect David Muir, opened for worship in 1774 and is the third to occupy this prominent site on the banks of the River Irvine. The rectangular box building is fronted by its landmark tower, segmented into six parts, while striking round-headed windows light the gallery and sanctuary within.

The octagonal steeple, regarded as one of the finest in Scotland, contains a clock presented by the Irvine Volunteers in 1803. The stained glass windows include fine examples of the Keir brothers’ work and windows by Susan Bradbury and John Blyth. The Connacher of Huddersfield organ is was installed in 1878. The graveyard contains many fine classical monuments.
