Church Overview
Originally built as a chapel for Wesleyan Methodists in 1810, the building was bought by the Swedenborgians in 1860 for £600, and known as the New Jerusalem Church. In 2019 the site was bought by the Philippine nontrinitarian church Iglesia ni Cristo.
It is an an unusual building with halls, kitchen and accommodation on the ground floor and its church upstairs. The church is a large room possessing beautiful decorative plaster cornicing and ceiling roses. Three striking stained glass windows by W & J J Keir, including one designed by Sir Joseph Noel Paton (whose parents were part of the Swedenborgian congregation). Fine pulpit and communion table.
