Church Overview

A beautiful little Venetian Gothic church of 1863, designed by noted architect Frederick Thomas Pilkington, with characteristic stone carving and a fine rose window rightly described as an architectural gem. Built on land gifted by G Robertson Chaplin of Colliston and paid for by Chaplin and local fundraising, it was originally intended to be a school during the week and a “preaching station” on Sundays.

The Church of Scotland transferred the building in January 2014 into the care of the Auchengray Church Centre Trust. This local group have since lovingly and extensively restored, repaired and redesigned the building and its grounds to ensure that Auchengray Church continues to be a valuable community asset for generations to come.
