Church Overview
The church was built in 1885 to the design of Alexander Ross, the chancel being added in 1905 in memory of Mr Norman Sinclair. The stained glass by A L Moore depicting ‘The Good Samaritan’ is in memory of Sir George Sinclair of Ulbster. The 2-manual organ by George Benson 1894, built for a Lancashire Chapel, was dismantled and moved here in 1973. The carved oak reredos depicts the Ascension and the first Pentecost. Other items of interest within the Church are a carved Pew Back from Old St Peter’s Church, from the family pew of Rev Andrew Monro, minister of Thurso from 1655 to 1682 and from 1690 to 1693. Also a set of pewter communion vessels originaly used by the first secession Church in Thurso. The Chalice and Paten bear the inscription “The Associated Congregation, Thurso, 1782”.
