Church Overview
A simple but incredibly picturesque church on a rise overlooking the Tay by architect Thomas Martin Cappon. Built 1886-87 for around £1000, the limited budget meant the original interior was somewhat austere. As the congregation grew, so too did the donated furniture and furnishings.
In 1903-1904, the organ by John Robertson Miller of Dundee was installed (completely refurbished in 2000 by Alex Edmonstone of Perth). A beautiful lectern was gifted shortly afterwards. The pulpit was gifted in 1934, the Rood Screen was made by George Fairweather of Dundee in 1937, the figures above it sculpted by William Lamb of Montrose and added in 1940. The stained glass windows date from 1887 to 1950 – two by the Charles Eamer Kempe Studio, one by Frederick Vincent Hart and the magnificent west window by Alexander Russell.
