Church Overview
St Columba started as an outreach to East Kilbride by a team of Lutheran Council mission workers led by Revd Dr George Pearce. St Columba has been served by many pastors, from different countries.
This is the only purpose-built Lutheran church in Scotland. The Lutheran Church is a reformed but nonetheless liturgical church and accordingly gave this commission to Gillespie, Kidd & Coia specifically because of their pedigree in designing Roman Catholic churches. Completed in 1979, the church was re-roofed in the mid 90s. The original altar, pulpit and font in travertine marble survive.
