Church Overview

There has been a church on this site since the mid-16th century, the current commodious church was built at Muckhart in 1838. Fragments of earlier buildings may be seen, with four skewputts on eastern gable dated 1620, 1699, 1713 and 1789. It has seen major redevelopments in 1927, when a new entrance, toilet and session room was added, and in 2014-19 when its roof was rebuilt and interior was fully refurbished and modernised, making the building more accessible and providing more facilities for the congregation and visitors.

Its original stained glass windows were removed to Fossoway Church, in  Crook of Devon. It contains various memorial plaques. There is a large grave stone on east wall of the church for the Christie family of Cowden and an interesting memorial nearby to Matsui, the Japanese gardener to Miss Ella Christie.

In 1987 the congregations of Dollar and Glendevon churches linked with Muckhart. The church operates a community café on certain days, check their website for details.
