Church Overview
A simple rural parish church with tower with a crenellated parapet, built 1828. Galleried interior, with a fine oak pulpit. Stained glass depicting “the Sower” and “the Reaper”.
Built on site of earlier church dedicated to early Christian saint St Kennara, whose hermitage was rumoured to be on this site. For many years, the church contained the magnificent carved stone Kirkinner Cross, possibly created at Whithorn in the 10th century. This has now been rehomed in a glass cabinet outside the village hall. Burial ground also contains some interesting stones and a mausoleum.
Closed in 2020 and sold by the Church of Scotland in 2024.
