The mill and mining village of Avonbridge is focused on the bridge over the River Avon. The church is a simple building of stone with a slate roof.

There has been a church here since 1140; the churches of Applegarth and Sibbaldie United in 1609, and with Johnstone in 2004.

Christian presence on the site dates back to the 13th century. The medieval building was restored 1595 and extended 1767 to create a T-plan church.

Parliamentary church designed by William Thompson, 1829 with Tudor windows and pinnacled bellcote. In 1993 a new vestibule was added.
