Church Overview
The first church in this vicinity was established in 1244. In a document dated 1583 the Laird of Kemback granted a site for church, graveyard, manse and six acres of glebeland – this is the nearby ruined church. The present simple rural church, with its Gothic details and bellcote, was built in 1814.
The interior, with its gallery on the south wall and pulpit in the north east corner, was entirely renewed in 1920s using Borneo cedar. The bell is believed to have come from the ruined 16th century church.
The church was closed and sold in 2023 by the Church of Scotland during a nationwide rationalisation of its church buildings. It is now privately owned and no longer open to the public.
CHURCH CLOSED 2023. Now privately owned.
