Church Overview
Kilchoman Parish is an ancient parish, named after the Celtic saint Coman who established a church in the north east of the parish. There is a fine Celtic standing cross and a ruined church on the site. The present church was constructed 1897 and was designed by Peter MacGregor Chalmers. In Romanesque style in rubble stone dressed with red sandstone. Conical roofed apse. Centenary tapestry on display. On 1st January 2018 the parishes of Kilchoman, Kilmeny and Portnahaven united to become North & West Islay Church of Scotland.
