Church Overview

Arriving at Kirk Wynd visitors are immediately greeted by the A-listed tower and bell of 1734  that survived  an explosion of Jacobite munitions stored within in the adjacent 15th-century church during the 1745 Rebellion. Its clock mechanism was last replaced in 1901. In 1751, the nave was rebuilt to be used as the parish church with fragments of the previous buildings on the site going back to the 12th century located between the current building and the bell tower.

The church was heavily remodelled in 1937, by A A McMichael, when a new vestry and organ chamber was added, along with a new organ, pulpit and other internal furnishings. Further internal remodelling took place in the 1960s. Memorial windows featuring St Ninian by Roland Mitton were installed in 1980.
