Church Overview
Designed by Inverness architect John Robertson as a memorial to Anne, Duchess of Sutherland and Countess of Cromartie, this rectangular church with its distinctive pencil-shaped bell tower was constructed between 1890 and 1892 with the chancel added in 1899.
The pulpit, of Caen stone and alabaster, was installed in 1916 and the altar and reredos, both made of marble and alabaster and showing beautiful carved reliefs, were installed around the same time. Stained glass windows are by J. Powell & Sons (1891), T.C. Curtis, Ward and Hughes (1899-1900) and Heaton Butler. One of these windows, themed around healing, provided the inspiration for the congregation to create a new sensory garden in the church grounds in 2024 for the use and benefit of the local community. Work on the St Anne’s Healing Garden Project continues
