Church Overview
This picturesque church of 1875, the third-known church built on this site on the banks of Loch Lomond, with its beautiful stained glass windows and uniquely timbered roof, featured frequently in STV’s ‘Take the High Road’.
Cruciform in shape it is decorated in Gothic-style with a belfry at the crossing. It contains a medieval font and effigy of recumbent bishop and two early medieval incised crosses. Interesting heraldic funeral hatchments of the local Colquhoun family adorn the ceiling of the Laird’s Loft and the ancient graveyard has 15 listed ancient monuments, including a remarkable Viking hogback stone carved in the shape of longhouse.
